The Auscultation Brass is a group of Lancaster doctors who in 1985 decided it would be fun to practice their brass instruments in addition to medicine.

While developing a large repertoire of classical and popular music they perform at various community functions, medical events, local churches, and retirement communities. They have even played outside of Carnegie Hall!

The group has funded the “Auscultation Brass” scholarship through the PA Academy of Music in the past and contributes to other charitable causes from honoraria it receives. Most recently, the Food Hub, Alzheimer’s Association, Opera Lancaster and SWAN.

While it is conceded that there is much more practice of medicine than brass instruments in their lives, their performances are musically entertaining with interesting medical and musical commentary added.

Their performance schedule, individual biographies and an assortment of photos can be found at auscultationbrass.com or on Facebook using Auscultation Brass.
